Crescent Heights Presented Latest Plans to Clean Up Hospital Site

The owners of the property South Shore Hospital, left for an abandoned shell for years, presented plans to redevelop the property.  Almost 75 WAvNA members listened intently at the meeting held at the Miami Beach Golf Course on Alton Road.

The project extending from 5th Street north to 7th Street, if 7th Street cut through from Alton to West Avenue, will cover almost 450K square feet, include almost 60K of retail space and about 450 rental units.  The parking will be underground for about 1,100 parking spaces.

The magic words, aside from saying Crescent Heights was making a serious effort to clean up the lots, were pedestrian friendly, LEED certification, no more than 30% of retail turned over to restaurants, businesses closing no later than midnight and no neighborhood impact establishments.

Traffic circulation is a major issue and not a part of the presentation.  WAvNA will schedule another meeting for this presentation.
