MiMo Gem: Vagabond Hotel is Under Contract

This evening I attended the Belle Meade Homeowners Association at Legion Park where developer Avra Jain unveiled her plans to redevelop the historic Vagabond Hotel. Ms. Jain plans to restore the hotel and keep it as original as possible.  The hotel will have 50 rooms and she expects the ADR to be somewhere between $120-$150 depending on the season.  A restaurant and possibly a bakery would also anchor the hotel although this has yet to be decided. Construction is expected to last 6-months once the city approves the permits.

I can’t emphasize enough how important this project is to MiMo- it is a game changer for the entire neighborhood. The project will bring more people to MiMo and Biscayne Boulevard, which will in turn make the area safer and a more desirable place to invest. The Belle Meade HOA voted unanimously in favor to support plans for the redevelopment of the Vagabond Hotel.  Congratulations Avra and welcome to MiMo!

Dreaming of a Business and Pedestrian-friendly Biscayne Boulevard for MiMo

Check out how Biscayne Boulevard should look. Can you imagine a business and pedestrian-friendly MiMo with on-street parking?  Wouldn’t it be nice if cars moved slower through the historic district?  This is all possible- a team from the University of Miami developed three alternative streetscape designs for Biscayne Boulevard. Which alternative do you prefer?

Please send an email to the FDOT District 6 Secretary Gus Pego and let him know which alternative you prefer.
