Sustainability = Equity, Wednesday, September 19, 2012 – Mike Pyatok

Sustainability = Equity” is a lecture featuring Mike Pyatok, FAIA, Principal of Pyatok Architects and Professor Emeritus of Architecture at the University of Washington. He has served as a professor of architecture and design at the University of Washington, Harvard University, and Arizona State University. From 2004 to 2007, he also served as the Founding Director of the Stardust Center for Affordable Homes and the Family at Arizona State University, leading their efforts to develop demonstrations of sustainable design and affordable housing. At the heart of Mike’s work is the participatory design process he uses to deeply involve residents, community members, and stakeholders in the revitalization of low-income communities.

About the Professor

Stephen Nostrand is CEO of Colliers International’s South Florida office. Colliers is one of the largest global real estate service companies. Stephen followed in the footsteps of his family and joined the commercial real estate world 40 years ago. His dad spent 60 years with one of the largest commercial real estate companies in the northeast United States and his brother is a real estate developer in the mid-west. Mr. Nostrand has been involved in all aspects of the real estate business including development, leasing, sales, financing and managing. Mr. Nostrand is a professor in the Master in Real Estate Development + Urbanism program at the University of Miami.
